causes of suicide and prevention

Image
Suicide is death caused by injuring oneself with the intent to die. A suicide attempt is when someone harms themselves with any intent to end their life, but they do not die as a result of their actions. Many factors can increase the risk for suicide or protect against it. Suicide is connected to other forms of injury and violence. For example, people who have experienced violence, including child abuse, bullying, or sexual violence have a higher suicide risk. Being connected to family and community support and having easy access to healthcare can decrease suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Suicide and suicide attempts cause serious emotional, physical, and economic impacts. People who attempt suicide and survive may experience serious injuries that can have long-term effects on their health. They may also experience depression and other mental health concerns. Suicide and suicide attempts affect the health and well-being of friends, loved ones, co-workers, and the community. When ...

Child labour

Image
Children are the gifts of God. They are to be protected, nurtured and moulded into a personality they would want to be. They are as delicate as a petal of a rose, but with that softness comes the liability of being crushed. If guided well, they can lead the future. Nowadays, children, to be precise, kidnapped children, homeless children, orphan children, they are all directed to manual labour. It may be begging on the streets or working on a construction site, which is no place to be for a minor.  Children are the future. But when instead of helping them discover themselves, they are directed to labour it indirectly affects the growth of the country. Children, they need to play, they need to fall and learn to get up, they need to enjoy being a kid. But with child labour, this all is just a dream. Even now, there are those children, who are working hard day and night, just so they could eat one times food, those children who are studying from the worn-out books, from whom you...

NEGATIVE THINKING

Image
Negative thinking can contribute to problems such as social anxiety, depression, stress, and low self-esteem. The key to changing your negative thoughts is to understand how you think now (and the problems that result), then use strategies to change these thoughts or make them have less of an effect. Our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are all linked, so our thoughts impact how we feel and act.  According to the Power of Positivity, there are three leading causes of negative thoughts. Fear of the future: People often fear the unknown and are unsure what the future might bring. This often leads to "catastrophizing," which means always predicting failure and disaster. Whichever way you look at it, worrying about the future is a waste of time and energy. The key to letting go of these negative thoughts is to accept there is a limit to what you can change in the future and strive to focus on the present instead. Anxiety about the present: Anxiety about the present is understa...

Animal rescue

Image
About half of the animals who land in shelters every year are dogs. They range in age from newborn pups to seniors. Some arrive at shelters because they were found by the side of the road or running at large through a neighborhood. Others get surrendered by folks who unwittingly allowed their unaltered pets to spawn. In some of the most horrific cases, animal rescue involves dogs and other pets who have been neglected and mistreated. They might have sores on their bodies, lesions, bruises, protruding ribs, and snarled hair that must be shaved. Animal rescue operations often have veterinarians on staff who can tend to injuries, illnesses, and parasites. However, the so-called lost causes often find themselves euthanized. Neglected, abused, and malnourished horses often go unreported because they’re housed on large parcels of land or kept in rural areas. Animal protection officers and concerned citizens don’t see them, so they can’t intervene. The major problem with horses is that ...

DEPRESSION

Image
A mental health disorder characterised by persistently depressed mood or loss of interest in activities, causing significant impairment in daily life. Possible causes include a combination of biological, psychological and social sources of distress. Increasingly, research suggests that these factors may cause changes in brain function, including altered activity of certain neural circuits in the brain. Depression (major depressive disorder) is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. Fortunately, it is also treatable. Depression causes feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed. It can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems and can decrease your ability to function at work and at home. Depression nowadays is a term used frequently and yet very few people actually understand the complexity of the disorder. Dr Anuj Khandelwal, a celebrated Psychiatrist from Surat say...

Food wastage

Image
For many people in the world, food waste has become a habit: buying more food than we need at markets, letting fruits and vegetables spoil at home or taking larger portions than we can eat. These habits put extra strain on our natural resources and damage our environment. When we waste food, we waste the labour, effort, investment and precious resources (like water, seeds, feed, etc.) that go into producing it, not to mention the resources that go into transporting and processing it. In short, wasting food increases greenhouse gas emissions and contributes to climate change. It’s a big problem. In fact, worldwide, tonnes of edible food are lost or wasted every day. Between harvest and retail alone, around 14 percent of all food produced globally is lost. Huge quantities of food are also wasted in retail or at the consumer level. The part of food that is lost from harvest up to, but not including, the retail level is called food loss. The part wasted at the consumer or retail leve...
